Whale Watching Queensland

Whale Watching

Every year the Whales migrate from Antarctica to the warmer waters of the Great Barrier Reef Australia to give birth. Offering Visitors and its guests the opportunity to witness their majestic beauty. Hervey Bay’s naturally calm waters and isolated bays off of Fraser Island offer the Humpback Whale a safe haven to relax, recoup and teach their young before their return migration south to their summer feeding grounds of Antarctica. Rarely in a life time is anyone presented with an opportunity to come face to face with one of the largest mammals in the world the Humpback Whale.

From August to September we see the Young Sub Whales at play. Relaxing in the calm waters off of Fraser Island the “Sub Adults” take a break from the ocean swells encountered elsewhere along the Australian East Coast.

From September to November you will witness mothers and their calves escorted by big bulls for protection frolicking in the peaceful waters of the Bay.

The Humpback Whale is the most acrobatic and playful of all the largest whales. This gives us a glimpse of the maternal side of the mums as well as the playfulness of the calves. One moment mum and calf can be observed quietly suckling, only to erupt into action when the calf has decided its time to play. A mother and calf air-born is something you will find hard to forget.

The sight of the first Humpback Whale is an unforgettable experience to see an animal weighing some 45,000kg or an equivalent weight of 11 elephants is breathtaking.

Whale Watching is a truly unforgettable experience that everyone must witness at least once in their life time.
